REPORT ON THE 25TH ANNUAL NCCSS SHOW

Thank you goes out to all who worked so hard to make the show the success it was.

Special thanks goes to Pete Boudriault for his tireless effort taking on the difficult job as Show Manager.

A most special thank you is extended to our Guest Speakers who did an excellent job as show judges: Myron Kimnach, Dan Mahr, Steve Hammer and Woody Minnich. They served above and beyond the call of duty by getting up at 7 AM on Saturday morning to do the judging.

I'd like to thank all of you who entered plants and/or helped with the show to make it a success: Dr. Gerald Barad, Richard & Rita Hojnowski, Judy Becker, George W. Charles II, Laura Olkin, Ron Byrom, Bob Smoley, Barry Bush, John Story, Deborah Mensch, Sage Reynolds, Will Ward, Mary Chiles, Bob Petza, Ingrid Fritze, Arlene Weiss, Pete Boudriault, Lee Miller, Al Nichols, Susie Remmers, Chyren Hunter, Ellen Young, Donna Kuroda and Shirley Friedlander. Without your help there would have been no show. Also, I'd like to thank all those members of the NCCSS and the CSSM who came to convention to see the show and lending support.

Special thanks goes to Alain Choo for printing up the signs. Thanks goes once again to Pete Boudriault for his excellent work in assisting the show judges as clerk and his outstanding educational exhibit. Educational exhibits do much to increase public interest in the show and in Cactus & succulents in general. It would be a good idea to consider encouraging having more educational exhibits in future shows.

Of the 251 show entries, 162 (65%) were award winners. The top award winners were Jerry Barad with 46 ribbons, Arlene Weiss with 18 ribbons, Bob Petza with 15 ribbons and Pete Boudriault with 14 ribbons. All three entries by first time participant Deborah Mensch won ribbons in the Beginners class. Everyone who entered plants walked away with at least one ribbon. Congrats to all the winners.
